Once you submit an offboarding request through the Remote People platform, our team reviews the request and guides you through the next steps based on the employee's circumstances and applicable local requirements.
Submitting an offboarding request does not automatically notify the employee or complete the termination process.
What happens after you submit your request?
The offboarding process generally follows these steps:
1. Your request is submitted
Remote People receives the request for review.
At this stage, the employee is not automatically notified about the request.
2. Remote People reviews the request
Our Offboarding team reviews the information provided, including:
The proposed termination or employment end date
The reason for the employment ending
The employee's country or state of employment
Applicable notice periods and local requirements
Any other circumstances that may affect the offboarding process
The proposed end date may need to be adjusted depending on the applicable legal requirements.
3. Follow your offboarding progress
You can follow the progress of your request directly in the Remote People platform.
The Offboarding Progress page shows the current stage of the process and any actions that may be required from you.
Tip: Check the progress page regularly after submitting your request. If an action is required from you, completing it promptly can help avoid unnecessary delays.
4. Additional information or action may be requested
Depending on the circumstances, the Remote People team may ask you to provide additional information or complete an action before the process can move forward.
For example, you may need to:
Provide additional details about the reason for termination
Confirm the proposed last working day
Review or approve documentation
Provide information needed to calculate final compensation
Any required action will be communicated through the platform or by the Remote People team.
5. Remote People coordinates the formal process
Once the applicable requirements have been reviewed, Remote People and the relevant local employer or payroll partner coordinate the formal offboarding process.
This may include preparing termination documentation, calculating notice and final compensation, and completing any required local formalities.
Do not communicate a final termination decision or provide termination documentation to the employee before receiving guidance from Remote People.
6. Final compensation and documents
Once the employment ending has been formally processed, Remote People coordinates the applicable final payments and employment documentation.
The exact timing and documents provided depend on the employee's country and the type of offboarding.
Jurisdiction-specific termination rules
Termination requirements vary depending on where the employee is employed. The proposed timeline shown in the Remote People platform may therefore differ between employees.
The following are examples of jurisdiction-specific requirements that may affect the offboarding timeline.
Czech Republic
The statutory notice period is generally two months for both employers and employees.
The notice period generally starts when the termination notice is delivered.
Employers and employees can agree in writing to a longer notice period, provided it is the same for both parties. Shorter periods may apply in specific statutory circumstances.
Termination notices must be in writing.
Employees generally continue working during the notice period unless otherwise agreed.
Remote People will confirm the applicable process and timeline based on the specific circumstances of the offboarding.
Arizona, USA
Arizona generally follows at-will employment, so advance notice may not be required by law.
However, at-will employment has exceptions. Different requirements may apply under an employment contract, company policy, or applicable law, and certain types of termination are prohibited by law.
Remote People will review the specific circumstances and confirm the applicable process and timeline.
Important
The timeline displayed or communicated during the offboarding process is based on the employee's specific circumstances and applicable local requirements.
Do not assume that the proposed termination date can be changed or that the employee can be notified before Remote People confirms the appropriate process.
If you have questions about a specific offboarding request, follow the instructions shown in the Remote People platform or contact Support.
