In South Korea, annual leave entitlements are structured to reward long-term service and regular attendance.


Minimum Annual Leave Entitlements

  • Less Than 1 Year of Employment or Less Than 80% Attendance

    • Accrual Rate: Employees are entitled to a minimum of 1 day of annual leave per month.

  • More Than 1 Year of Employment and At Least 80% Attendance

    • Accrual Rate: Employees are entitled to a minimum of 15 days of annual leave per year.

    • Additional Leave: For every additional two years of employment, employees receive 1 extra dayof leave per year.

      • Example: After the 3rd year, employees receive 16 days/year; after the 6th year, 17 days/year.

    • Maximum Limit: The maximum number of annual leave days is 25 days per year.


Accrual of Annual Leave

  • First Year: Annual leave is pro-rated based on the number of months worked.

  • From Second Year: Employees are entitled to the full number of annual leave days as specified.


These regulations ensure that employees are fairly compensated with time off in relation to their service duration and attendance.
