Can employees be transferred from an entity or other EOR provider to Remote People?

Yes, employees can be transferred from a local entity, another Employer of Record (EOR) provider, or a partner organization into Remote People.

This is a common approach for companies looking to:

  • Consolidate their global workforce under one provider

  • Improve compliance

  • Simplify operations across multiple countries

Remote People supports you throughout the entire process to ensure a smooth and compliant transition for both your business and your employees.

How does the transfer process work?

1. Initial assessment

The process begins with a kickoff discussion to understand your goals and the countries involved.

You’ll typically be asked to provide:

  • A list of employees to be transferred

  • Their current employment arrangements

  • Notice periods

  • Employee types (e.g. local, expatriate, freelance, fixed-term)

2. Compliance review

We assess the legal and operational requirements in each country, including:

  • Local labor laws

  • Visa or work permit requirements

  • Onboarding feasibility

3. Coordination with current employer

You’ll need to align with your current EOR provider or entity on key details such as:

  • Transfer timelines

  • Notice periods

  • Treatment of accrued paid time off

  • Whether severance can be waived (where applicable)

4. New employment contracts

Remote People prepares new employment agreements for the transferring employees.

To ensure continuity:

  • Employees should sign their new contract before leaving their current employer

  • In some cases, a Mutual Termination & Transfer Agreement (MTTA) or tripartite agreement may be used to preserve benefits such as seniority and accrued leave

5. Onboarding and transition

Once employees are officially released from their current employer, we complete onboarding with Remote People.

From there, our HR and payroll teams manage ongoing employment and local compliance.

Key considerations

  • Seniority and accrued benefits can often be preserved, depending on local laws

  • Requirements and timelines vary by country

  • Early planning helps ensure a smoother transition
