Regulated Professions and EOR Limitations
As an Employer of Record (EOR), Remote People supports compliant hiring across many roles and industries. However, we are not able to onboard individuals in regulated professions.
These roles are subject to strict legal and professional requirements, such as specific licenses, certifications, and insurance, which fall outside the scope of our services.
Why can’t Remote People support regulated professions?
1. Scope of Service
Remote People is not authorized to verify or manage professional licenses, certifications, or registrations required by local regulatory bodies. Ensuring these credentials are valid and maintained is typically the responsibility of specialized employers or governing institutions.
2. Insurance and Liability Considerations
Our service and insurance coverage do not extend to risks associated with regulated professions. This includes:
Professional negligence
Malpractice or misconduct
Role-specific liability requirements
Because of this, we cannot assume the legal or financial responsibility tied to these roles.
Examples of regulated professions
Below are common examples of roles that are typically regulated and not supported under our EOR model:
Healthcare professions
Medical doctors
Nurses
Dentists
Pharmacists
Veterinarians
Physiotherapists
Legal and financial professions
Lawyers / Attorneys
Financial advisors
Tax consultants
Note: Some adjacent roles, such as Legal Consultants or Legal Project Managers, may be supported depending on responsibilities.
Technical and engineering professions
Architects
Civil engineers
Electrical engineers
Surveyors
Other roles typically not supported
Construction workers (high-risk environments)
Retail employees (generally not suited to EOR structures)
Maritime crew (subject to complex international regulations)
How to determine if a role is regulated
This is not an exhaustive list. To assess whether a role may be regulated, consider:
Does the role require registration with a professional or governing body?
Are specific licenses or certifications legally required?
Is personal or professional indemnity insurance mandatory?
If the answer to any of the above is yes, the role is likely regulated.
What are your options?
If you need to hire for regulated roles, we recommend working with a provider that specializes in those industries and can ensure full compliance with licensing and certification requirements.
Remote People remains available to support your global hiring needs for roles that fall within our scope of service.
