Employees in Slovakia are entitled to sick leave when they are unable to work through illness or injury.
Your entitlement
Sick leave is paid by your employer for the initial statutory period. For longer absences, sickness benefit is paid by social security through Sociálna poisťovňa.
In the platform
Sick Leave is configured with no fixed annual balance. There is no day-count cap to track and no balance to run down — each absence is recorded individually.
Sick leave is recorded in half-day units, so a partial day of absence can be logged accurately.
Requests can be submitted retrospectively, so an unplanned absence can be logged after the fact.
What you need to provide
A medical certificate is required for every sick leave request. Upload it with your request — the certificate is what makes the absence payable.
If you need to attend a medical appointment rather than take sick leave, use Doctor's Appointment Leave instead — that is a separate entitlement of 7 working days per year.
