What are the Paid and Unpaid Leaves in Qatar?

Maternity leave, Hajj leave and other leave in Qatar — including who pays.

Beyond annual leave, employees in Qatar are entitled to several types of leave for specific life circumstances. Each heading below gives the name you will see when booking time off in the platform, and shows who pays.

Paid leave

  1. Maternity Leave

    • Duration: 50 calendar days.

    • Paid by your employer.

    • Supporting documentation is required with the request.

  2. Other Leave

    • For circumstances that do not fit any other leave type, recorded with no fixed annual balance.

    • Paid by your employer.

    • Can be requested in half days. Supporting documentation is required, and requests are reviewed individually.

Unpaid leave

  1. Hajj Leave

    • Duration: 21 calendar days to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

    • Unpaid. This is a statutory entitlement, but it carries no payment.

    • Supporting documentation is required.

What you need to provide

These leave types require a supporting document with your request: Maternity Leave, Hajj Leave, Other Leave and Sick Leave. The only leave type that does not need one is Vacation.

Annual leave (Vacation) and Sick Leave are covered in separate articles. If your situation isn't covered above, contact your Remote People HR contact.
