Starting Monday, July 20, 2026, all Client Admin accounts on the Remote People platform require multi-factor authentication (MFA) to log in. This adds an extra layer of security to protect sensitive payroll and employee data.
What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) verifies your identity by requiring two forms of proof when you log in:
Something you know (your password)
Something you have (a one-time code sent to your registered email)
This means that even if someone gets access to your password, they still can't log in without access to your email account.
Who Needs MFA?
MFA is required for all users with Admin access. This includes:
Primary Client Admins
Any additional Admins added to your company account
Manager accounts and employee accounts are not affected by this requirement.
How Does MFA Work?
Starting July 20, 2026, when you log in to your Admin account:
Enter your email and password as usual
You'll be prompted to check your email for a verification code
Open the email from Remote People and copy the 6-digit code
Enter the code on the login screen
Optionally, select "Remember this device for 30 days" to avoid entering a code on every login from this device
Do I Need to Set Up MFA?
No action is needed. MFA will be automatically enabled for all Admin accounts on July 20, 2026. The first time you log in after this date, you'll be asked to verify your identity with a one-time code.
What if I Don't Receive the Code?
If you don't receive the verification email within a few minutes:
Check your spam or junk mail folder
Confirm you're checking the email address registered to your Admin account
Wait 60 seconds and request a new code
If you still don't receive it, contact support@remotepeople.com
How Long Does the Code Last?
Each verification code is valid for 5 minutes. If it expires before you enter it, simply request a new code on the login screen.
Can I Skip MFA?
No. MFA is mandatory for all Admin accounts and cannot be disabled. Admin accounts have access to sensitive payroll, employee data, and financial information, so this protection is required for all users with Admin permissions.
What Happens if I Change Devices?
If you selected "Remember this device for 30 days," you won't need to enter a code when logging in from that device. However:
Logging in from a new device or browser will require a new verification code
After 30 days, you'll need to verify again even on trusted devices
Clearing your browser cookies will remove the trusted device status
Why is Remote People Requiring MFA?
Admin accounts have access to sensitive payroll and employee data. MFA is a baseline security protection that ensures only authorized users can access your company's information, even if a password is compromised. This is part of Remote People's ongoing commitment to platform security and data protection.
