Sick leave provisions in Mozambique are designed to support employees who are unable to work due to illness.
Sick Leave Entitlement
Duration: Employees are entitled to up to 15 continuous days or 5 non-consecutive days of paid sick leave per year. This allows employees to recover from illness or injury without financial strain.
Extended Sick Leave
Beyond 15 Days: If an employee requires sick leave for more than 15 continuous days, the employer (ER) has the right to submit the employee to the health board. The health board will evaluate the employee’s capacity to work and provide a ruling on their ability to continue with their duties.
