Employees in Mozambique are entitled to various forms of paid leave, designed to support their personal and health needs.
1. Annual Leave
1st Year of Employment:
Minimum: 12 days of annual leave (1 day accrued per month).
2nd Year of Employment:
Minimum: 30 days of annual leave.
Previous Entitlement: Before February 21, 2024, employees were entitled to 24 days.
From the 3rd Year Onwards:
Minimum: 30 days of annual leave.
Accrual:
Leave is pro-rated during the first two years of employment.
Any accrued leave may be carried over with the employer’s approval.
2. Sick Leave
Paid Sick Leave:
Up to 15 continuous days or 5 non-consecutive days.
Extended Sick Leave:
After 15 days, employers may refer the employee to a health board to evaluate their capacity to continue working.
3. Other Paid Leave
Marriage:
5 days of paid leave.
Death of a Close Family Member:
5 days of paid leave.
