In Bangladesh, leave entitlements vary based on the type of establishment and the duration of employment. Here’s a detailed overview of leave entitlements for employees with more than one year of service:

Annual Leave Entitlements

  1. General Establishments

    • Shops, Commercial, Industrial Establishments, Factories, and Road Transport: Employees are entitled to one day of leave for every 18 days of work, which approximates to 20 days per year.

  2. Tea Plantations

    • Tea Plantation Workers: Employees are entitled to one day of leave for every 22 days of work.

  3. Newspaper Workers

    • Newspaper Workers: Employees are entitled to one day of leave for every 11 days of work.

Carrying Forward Unused Leave

  • Cap on Unused Leave:

    • For factory or road transport workers, unused leave may be carried forward with a cap of 40 days.
