At Remote People, contractor payment terms are clearly defined and documented during the onboarding process. These terms are agreed upon by both the client and the contractor and captured in the signed contractor agreement.
Two contractor models available: Remote People offers Contractor of Record (COR) and Direct Contractor (DC). With COR, Remote People is the contracting party and handles the full relationship. With Direct Contractor, the contract is directly between you and the contractor, with Remote People providing the platform, contract, and payment infrastructure. Payment flow and invoicing differ between models. Compare COR vs Direct Contractor.
Remote People supports multiple payment structures, including:
Flat fees (e.g. 20% at project start, 80% at completion)
Hourly rates
Daily rates
Monthly fixed fees
Of these, monthly payments are fully automated. Once the agreement is in place, Remote People automatically generates and issues monthly invoices based on the agreed schedule and releases payments to the contractor as soon as the client's payment is received.
This automation ensures speed, transparency, and compliance, with minimal effort from your team.
For all other payment types, hourly, daily, or milestone-based, payments must be triggered manually. Either the client or the contractor can raise a one-time invoice in the Remote People platform. These additional invoices are reviewed and approved through a secure and traceable process before payment is made.
Remote People also supports multiple payment methods, including:
Bank transfers
Credit card payments
Expanded bank debit options such as SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) and BACS (Bankers' Automated Clearing Services)
These flexible options help ensure fast and reliable payments across global markets.
For Direct Contractor clients: payment flows directly to the contractor (not through Remote People), and you'll receive two separate invoices — one for the contractor payout and one for Remote People's service fee. Learn more about Direct Contractor payment flow.
