What Is Global Payroll and What Does It Mean for Me as an Employee?

Explains what Global Payroll means for employees: who your employer is, and what you can and can't do on the platform.

If your employer uses Global Payroll, this explains what that actually changes for you day-to-day, and what stays the same.

Who's your employer?

Your employer is your legal employer, not Remote People. Your employment contract, compensation, and the terms of your employment are between you and your employer. Remote People provides the platform your employer uses to run payroll and process your pay behind the scenes, but Remote People is not the company that employs you.

What you can do on the Remote People platform

  • View your payslips and documents

  • Submit time off requests

  • Submit expenses

  • Update your email address

What goes through your employer

Most changes and requests are handled by your employer's Admin/HR team rather than self-service on the platform, including personal, bank, and address detail updates, and anything related to your employment terms or compensation.
