The Bahamas National Insurance Board (NIB) has announced changes to National Insurance contribution rates and the maximum insurable earnings threshold.
Effective July 1, 2026, employees earning more than BSD 810 per week will see a small increase in their National Insurance (NIB) contribution.
What's changing?
Beginning July 1, 2026, employees earning more than BSD 810 per week will have their weekly employee NIB contribution increase by BSD 0.93.
This adjustment reflects updates made by the National Insurance Board to contribution rates and the maximum insurable earnings threshold.
Who is affected?
This change applies to employees who:
Earn more than BSD 810 per week; and
Are required to contribute to the Bahamas National Insurance Board (NIB).
Employees earning BSD 810 per week or less are not affected by this change.
What will I see on my payslip?
If you are affected, your payslip will show:
An increase of BSD 0.93 per week in your employee NIB deduction.
The updated deduction applied automatically from the first payroll processed on or after July 1, 2026.
Do I need to take any action?
No. If you are affected, your payroll deductions will be updated automatically. No action is required on your part.
