Employees in Cyprus are entitled to various types of paid and unpaid leave to support their personal and family needs.
Paid Leave:
Maternity leave is granted for 18 consecutive weeks, including two weeks before delivery, the week of delivery, and six weeks after. For the second child, maternity leave increases to 22 weeks, and for the third child, 26 weeks. The maternity benefit amounts to 72% of the employee’s earnings.
Unpaid Leave:
Parental leave is available for parents of children up to 15 years old, totaling 18 weeks. Employees may take between 1 day and 5 weeks per year.
This entitlement extends to 21 years for parents of children with disabilities and up to 23 weeks for widowed or single parents.
