It functions as an additional plan option—for example, Standard + Life—and must be selected at the employee's start date.

Once enrolled, the Life add-on cannot be added or removed during the policy year.

For about $11 extra per month, this add-on offers meaningful financial support to employees' families during difficult times.

The life coverage provides a one-time lump sum payout of up to $50,000 to a beneficiary in the event of the employee's death or a life-altering injury.

Life-altering injuries include the loss of limbs or sight, with the payout amount depending on the injury (see table below).

Unlike many life insurance policies, SafetyWing's Life add-on covers members worldwide, following them across countries regardless of where they live or travel.

If a company chooses to offer the Life add-on to any employee, it must be added for all employees under that company's policy for compliance reasons.

Dependents are not eligible to have their own Life policies but can be named as beneficiaries.
